Four Teenagers Arrested For Murder
MEN of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested four teenagers over the gruesome murder of an 11-year-old primary five pupil, Godwill Omokabo, in Akure, the state capital. The suspects, whose ages range between 11 and 13, were alleged to have killed Godwill for disallowing them to use his mobile phone to play game.
The suspects, according to sources, resided in the same compound with the deceased, who attended a private school in Oke Aro area of Akure.
A source said the suspects after killing their victims threw his remains in the bush at Adofure farm, which is some kilometres away from Akure, the state capital.
The deceased was allegedly killed three days after his friends had threatened to deal with him over the use of his mobile phone.
His decomposing body was found in the bush with several marks all over his body.
It was gathered that after he was murdered, the suspects returned to tell the parents various accounts of how he met his untimely death.
They were said to have told the parents, Joseph and Patience Omokabo, that Godwill fell into the river and was swept away, while in another breath they said he got drowned while they were all swimming.
After 24 hours of search and the corpse of Godwill could not be found, the father reported the matter to the Police.
The Police subsequently declared him missing.
One of the suspects was said to have taken his parents to where they hid the corpse of Godwill and it was recovered without the knowledge of the deceased parents.
When he was later told that the corpse had been recovered, Joseph was said to have suspected foul play and he raised the alarm following which it was discovered that bruises were all over the body of the deceased.
Speaking on the matter, Godswill’s mother said three days before the untimely death of his son there was an argument between the suspects and his son over a mobile phone.
It was learnt that the contentious phone was later found in possession of the suspects days after Godwill was missing.
The Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Adeniran Aremu, confirmed the arrest of the four teenage suspects.
Aremu said that Godwill was murdered following an argument over phone.
