NAFDAC impounds 430 cartons of fake cream in Kano

Four hundred and thirty cartons of fake perfumed petroleum jelly have been impounded in Kano by the National Agency for Foods and Drugs
Administration Control (NAFDAC). The product with brand name Hannu Perfumed Baby Jelly, were seized from a shop in Kano Sabon Gari market by the agency following a tip-off. Deputy Director for the agency in Kano Special Zone, Adedeji Akinwumi told a news conference in Kano yesterday that the premises where the unregistered products are being produced had been identified and sealed up by the agency. www.naijapaymentsonline.com

Akinwumi said the product was illegally produced and that it carried a Lagos address to deceive unsuspecting buyers. He maintained that the cream could be harmful if their chemical compositions are not of standard specifications and in the right proportions.
Three persons, according to him, have been arrested in connection with the product, adding that investigation into the case is still on-going.
The deputy director cautioned the public to always look out for NAFDAC registration numbers and full location address of products in addition
to other indicators like batch number, date of manufacture and expiry date. He also urged members of the public to provide useful information that would help the agency in apprehending dealers in substandard products.
