Sylva, others condemn arrest of supporters

Governor Timipre Sylva

Governor Timipre Sylva has condemned the arrest and what he called unlawful detention of his supporters at Lokoja, Kogi State on Sunday by the Nigeria Police.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen in five local government areas of the state, Ekeremor, Southern Ijaw, Ogbia, Kolokuma/Opokuma,and Sagbama had raised the alarm that  some youths who were not PDP members were being coordinated by loyalists of Sylva to protest the governorship primaries at the national secretariat in Abuja.

The party chairmen, Binalayefa Gagariga, (Kolokuma/Opokuma), Mr. Cyril Sudoumowei Alhaji (Ekeremor), Ben Foreman (Southern Ijaw), Mr. Newyear Okoringa (Sagbama) and Baralatei Kuro (Ogbia) in a statement, said Sylva’s loyalists were sponsoring the youths to Abuja under the guise of ward party chairmen to cause a breach of peace in the Federal Capital Territory.
