ANOTHER BOMB BLAST IN MAIDUGURI YESTERDAY

Four people were killed yesterday afternoon by a bomb blast, believed to have been planted by the Boko Haram exploded in Damboa, a town South of Maiduguri, the state capital. Sources said the Boko Haram men had targeted a church located in the town but the device exploded earlier than expected in a house adjacent the church at about 1.15 pm, killing four persons

 Some people were also said to have sustained serious injuries though the number of casualties could not be ascertained as at press time yesterday.    Last month, gunmen, suspected to be of Boko Haram, had stormed a bank and police station in Damboa, about 87 kilometres to Maiduguri, killing no fewer than 10 people.

Sources also said the gunmen numbering about 70 had broken into the police armory and taken away undisclosed number of arms.     Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdulahi Lawal, an assistant superintendent of police, who confirmed the incident told journalists three persons were killed. He disclosed that the victims were children who were at the scene when the bomb blast.
