Ekweremadu: The Pimp In The Senate

Nigerians were jolted recently when Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu made a call for legalization of prostitution in the country.
Said Ekweremadu: "We need to legalize prostitution in this country so that if anyone wants to indulge in prostitution, the person should be registered and issued with a license. if we say we want to stop it. it would be difficult. It is done in other countries. Let us regulate it by issuing a license."
The call attracted condemnation from the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, and as soon as Ekweremadu who represents Enugu West, saw the public outrage over his stupid suggestion, he issued a statement denying what he said.
However, it is important for Nigerians to know that Ekweremadu's call was not a slip of tongue, but an attempt to legalize prostitution business in the country, where he holds a stake.

Although many Nigerians may not know, the Deputy Senate President, a senator for over eight years now, proudly owns multi-million Citipak Hotels Enugu, with a night club called club125 annexed to it.
Outside Nigeria and West Africa in general, Citipark also has branches in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
But, in the past few weeks, men of Nigerian Police have been harassing prostitutes going for nude shows at CLUB 125 Enugu and the development was brought to the notice of Senator Ekweremadu by the management of Citipak.
After listening to the predicament of the prostitutes, the Deputy Senate President promised to find a lasting solution to the police harassment.
As soon as he got back to Abuja, he called for legalization of prostitution in the country.
This move Ekweremadu believes, would save the prostitutes further police embarrassment, so that his CLUB 125, which operates three times a week, could boom.
Besides, Ekweremadu's interest in night club business dates back to the military era when he was a pimp to a former military administrator.
He was rewarded with sole administrator-ship of his home Aninri local government area, from where he became Chief of Staff to Governor Chimaroke Nnamani and later Secretary to the State Government and then Senator in 2003
