Akinwumi said the product was illegally produced and that it carried a Lagos address to deceive unsuspecting buyers. He maintained that the cream could be harmful if their chemical compositions are not of standard specifications and in the right proportions.
Three persons, according to him, have been arrested in connection with the product, adding that investigation into the case is still on-going.
The deputy director cautioned the public to always look out for NAFDAC registration numbers and full location address of products in addition
to other indicators like batch number, date of manufacture and expiry date. He also urged members of the public to provide useful information that would help the agency in apprehending dealers in substandard products.
