Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger 'drained' by Samir Nasri transfer saga

ARSÈNE WENGER HAS ADMITTED TO CONCERN AT WHETHER THE SALE OF SAMIR NASRI WILL DESTABILISE ARSENAL, BUT BELIEVES THAT HE HAD NO CHOICE ONCE THE LONG-TERM COMMITMENT OF THE FRANCE MIDFIELDER HAD WAVERED.

Nasri trained at Arsenal yesterday morning ahead of tonight’s Champions League play-off against Udinese and was then given permission to travel to Manchester City for a medical after a £23 million deal was finally agreed. He had refused the offer of a deal worth £90,000-a-week at Arsenal and will instead earn around £170,000-a-week at Manchester City over the next five years.
“Nasri is a situation where the player didn’t want to extend his contract with the proposals he had somewhere else,” Wenger said. “What kind of commitment can you have when the player is not there long-term? That is the question you have to answer.
